Molte canzoni electro-pop da disco di quel periodo sono state riproposte circa dieci anni dopo in chiave eurodance, come Sounds Like a Melody degli Alphaville (che non appare in queste liste), che poi è diventata You Got to Let the Music dei Cappella, giusto per fare un esempio.

Erano i famosi remix, o come si diceva ai tempi 'extended version', di Ben Liberand.

Sì, concordo, e sinceramente non sono nemmeno sicuro che fino al 1985 fosse intesa come “classifica dance” (o “da discoteca”, come si diceva all’epoca) oppure più genericamente come i venti brani più forti della radio. La registrazione più vecchia in cui la Deejay Parade viene presentata come classifica “da discoteca” è uno spezzone del novembre 1987 con Jovanotti, tratto da Deejay Television.

Ecco le Deejay Parade che ho trovato del 1982 e del 1983. Come affermato in precedenza, si trattava ancora di classifiche generiche “da discoteca”, e molte posizioni erano occupate da brani pop rock o addirittura soft rock. Sì, c’è anche qualcosa del 1990, ma in questo sito sono già state pubblicate alcune classifiche di quell’anno, quindi non vorrei ‘sovrappormi’ stilando chart già scritte. Vedremo…

Comunque la prossima settimana quando ho tempo posterò alcune Dj Parade del 1982 e 1983.

Sì, non è che l’Italo disco fosse sempre ai vertici delle dance chart inglesi o americane, ma era l’unico genere in grado di ottenere almeno un minimo di visibilità, anche se in classifiche non esattamente mainstream. Senza contare che, nell’ambito underground, ha influenzato non poco la nascita della Chicago House.

Sono d’accordo. Il ’92 è stato, oltretutto, l’anno in cui i DJ del Deejay Time sono diventati famosi in tutta Italia come disc jockey specializzati in musica dance. È forse anche l’inizio del periodo in cui la Deejay Parade era focalizzata sulla club culture e quindi solo su generi dance, a volte persino underground. Dall’inizio del ’99 è tornata a essere una classifica da discoteca più generalista (e anche il Deejay Time, nel frattempo, era diventato un’altra cosa).

E poi, a dirla tutta, l’italo-disco e la sua evoluzione (l’italo-dance di fine anni ’90) rappresentavano la musica italiana più “internazionale” su tutti gli altri generi, specialmente rispetto alla musica pop o leggera, perché avevano il cantato in inglese e un sound semplice (magari non eccelso qualitativamente, ma molto radio-friendly). Insomma, in America o in Inghilterra è probabile che conoscano Sabrina Salerno o gli Eiffel 65, arrivati ai vertici delle classifiche dance straniere, non pop, sia chiaro. È invece piuttosto improbabile che conoscano i Pooh o Battisti (e, con tutto il rispetto, in alcuni casi è quasi una fortuna).

Aspetta un attimo, non facciamo confusione: se ti riferisci alle classifiche del 1982 e del 1985, allora erano ancora condotte rispettivamente da Claudio Cecchetto (dopotutto la Deejay Parade era la discendente spirituale della sua Discomania di Studio 105) e da Gerry Scotti. Albertino è arrivato solo alla fine dell’86 come conduttore della classifica. Quindi la selezione non era ancora affidata ad Albertino (che oltretutto ha dovuto aspettare non poco per avere il controllo totale sulla selezione musicale). Se per “italo dance” ti riferisci all’italo disco, penso ci siano sempre state un discreto numero di tracce (la maggior parte delle quali prodotte da Cecchetto), ma la Deejay Parade non è mai stata una classifica “da club”, bensì una classifica dance commerciale con i venti brani più ballati nelle discoteche. Fino alla chiusura del 2004, nonostante nella maggior parte dei casi si trattasse di 20 posizioni dance (in tutte le loro sfaccettature), ha sempre avuto dei brani che non rientravano nel genere, i quali, essendo molto ballati nelle discoteche, “rubavano” spazio alle posizioni propriamente dance. Per esempio, negli anni ’80 c’erano molte canzoni pop rock/new wave, e nei ’90 o nei primi 2000 non erano rare canzoni R&B o hip hop. Per questo, in periodi molto variegati musicalmente (come l’85) era difficile stilare una classifica composta solo da italo disco/hi-NRG/electro funk (tanto per citare i generi dance più comuni in quel momento), in quanto nelle discoteche si ballavano molti più generi, anche se non sempre concepiti per il ballo (quindi non era "snobismo", bensì, seguire banalmente le mode).

Ciao a tutti, probabilmente alcuni di voi l’hanno già notato: sulla pagina Facebook “Deejay Parade & Deejay Time” sono presenti molte classifiche del 1985 (solo le liste, non l'audio), oltre ad alcune del 1982 e del 1989. Si tratta di materiale ricercato su questo sito fin dagli albori. Non potremmo catalogarle, aggiornarle e ordinarle in modo da renderle visibili anche qui?

Chiaramente si tratta di una classifica che, come quelle cinematografiche con i migliori film di sempre, lascia il tempo che trova. Alcune posizioni sono altamente discutibili (The Rhythm of the Night è sicuramente storica a modo suo, ma tra le 100 canzoni dance di sempre? E poi Computer Love si può considerare un brano disco elettronico?). Mi sa, inoltre, che hanno puntato troppo sugli anni 2010, tralasciando diversi capolavori degli anni Ottanta e Novanta. La numero uno però ci sta eccome.
