L'uomo, 74 anni, vedovo con 14 figli, da cinque anni vive con una bara in casa e ha anche comprato una lapide dove ha fatto incidere il suo nome e la data di nascita (3/2/1932). In attesa di quella del decesso. L'anziano ha preso questa decisione nel 2001 e nella sua casa di Acquedolci, nel Messinese, ha adibito una delle tre stanza a deposito per la bara. "Sono stato io stesso - ha raccontato - a scegliere la cassa da morto tra trenta modelli. Quella acquistata mi sembra abbastanza comoda e robusta. E mi è piaciuta tanto che per timore di perderla me la sono fatta portare a domicilio. Naturalmente ho anche comprato il loculo al cimitero". Conti è in buona salute, ma adesso è preoccupato dalle infiltrazioni d'acqua che sono apparse nella stanza dove tiene la bara. "Sono stato costretto a coprirla con un telone - ha spiegato - Se si deteriorasse sarebbero guai, perché dati i costi elevati non mi potrei permettermi di comprarne un altra".
