Lo rivela un sondaggio lanciato dal magazine inglese New Musical Express, nel quale il rocker si posiziona la primo posto davanti a Pete Doherty e Morrissey. Oltre duemila lettori inglesi hanno incoronato quindi il frontman dei Nirvana, morto suicida ben ben 12 anni fa, "Greatest Hero In Rock 'N' Roll history", il più grande eroe nella storia del Rock'n'Roll. "C'era qualcosa di innocente ed infantile in Kurt", racconta un ex giornalista del NME Magazine, ricordando il suo primo incontro con l'artista, "il modo in cui si ritirava in se stesso lo rendeva un attento e terrificante osservatore degli altri". Secondo posto invece per il più oltraggioso cantante rock al mondo, Pete Doherty, ex Libertines e ora chiacchierato frontman dei Babyshambles, noto più per il suo andirivieni dalle carceri e la sua relazione con Kate Moss, che per le sue canzoni. Medaglia di bronzo per Morrissey, ex cantante del gruppo storico degli Smith e solista dall''88. Nella classifica seguono poi a ruota Liam Gallagher (Oasis), Carl Barat (Libertines), Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Noel Gallagher (Oasis), David Bowie, Ian Brown (Stone Roses) e Ian Curtis (Joy division/New Order).
